Party in the Park

This week has been chock full of parties and philanthropic endeavors and the Party in the Park was to benefit the Liff Fund for the Emerald Necklace.  Despite the cold and rain, the party was gorgeous (and thankfully under a tent).

The exquisite flowers were from Winston Flowers.

The tables just looked magnificent!

But the real stars of the party were the hats and fascinators.  Oh why doesn't this town have more occasions for hats?

And here is Elisha in her hat and me in my fascinator.  Getting gussied up in hats is fun but the people watching was just divine!

Hot Pink

I posted awhile back about Boston's upcoming Hot Pink Party.  Well it has now come and gone and it was a superb event raising over $1 million for breast cancer research. 

The party was in the new Shapiro wing of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts and the space was just incredible.

The flowers and centerpieces were beyond beautiful and the tables were perfect outfitted in pink and white stripes care of Brooks Brothers.

The food was prepared by Boston's own Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger, Daniel Bruce of Meritage and Michael Schlow of Via Matta and Radius among others.

As for what I wore, I opted to stand out in a sea of pink by staying neutral in gray and white.  I love this striped Kate Spade dress that I wore with platinum Valentino heels and because it's chilly and rainy, I wore a Sara Campbell jacket from the archives of my closet.

Boston Hot Pink Party

In my philanthropic endeavors, supporting research for breast cancer is high on my list.  I've posted on numerous occasions about my dear friend Elisha who is a breast cancer survivor thanks to life saving cancer research.  One of the most well run organizations out there is the Breast Cancer Research Foundation which donates over 90 cents on every dollar to breast cancer research.  To date the BCRF has raised over $300 million, of which over $31 million has been directed to New England medical institutions. 

This year the BCRF is having its Boston Hot Pink Party on May 17 at the Museum of Fine Arts with dinner prepared by some of Boston's most fabulous chefs (Ming Tsai, Michael Schlow and Daniel Bruce).  If you have the means, I highly recommend attending this event.  Even if you cannot attend the event, the BCRF is an organization worthy of your funds budgeted for charity.  Tickets and donations can be made here.

Party at David Yurman to Benefit the BCRF

Each year in Boston, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation organizes a fabulous Hot Pink Party to raise money to fund breast cancer research.  Many local doctors are funded through the BCRF and over 90 cents of each dollar they raise goes to fund research.  The kickoff party for this year's Hot Pink Party is being held at David Yurman in Copley Place on March 16 from 6-8PM.  10% of the proceeds that evening will be donated to the BCRF so please come and spend your little hearts out!

Ladies who Lunch

It's Friday thank goodness and for me it was a short one.  I worked less than half a day because I had a luncheon to go to so I spiffed it up a bit.  The lunch was to benefit Dress for Success and was held at the Copley Plaza Hotel.  Dress for Success is a truly wonderful organization and if you don't know anything about them check them out here.  Either way, donate your old clothes and accessories next time you clean out your closet.

I wore a bright yellow Kate Spade dress that I bought on sale last year.  One of my co-workers commented that I looked like I was ready for spring.  I told him that I'm bucking the winter trend which was overheard by someone else as a word that rhymes with buck (yes that too but I kept the language clean)!

I doubled down on the rings but it didn't last long once I got to work.  It was too difficult to type.  Is it too much together?

I wore a pair of black patent Prada shoes that came out of the archives of my closet.  Do you remember when Prada was doing these angled heels?  I love the shape of the heel and the chunky chain detail.  It felt good to wear something other than the black and grey that I've been wearing; how you feel on the inside really radiates out.  Even though I was bundled up as always on my walk to work, my ever present personal peanut gallery was out smoking his pipe and hollered "Good morning, Hollywood!  Looking good baby, looking like a million dollars!"  And I felt like a million bucks too.

How fabulous are all these Kate Spade women?  Not only are they all gorgeous and stylish, but they hosted a party at their store on Newbury Street in Boston for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Add to the wine and cheese the homemade pink ribbon cookies (made by the wonderful Alexis from Kate Spade in Boston) and we couldn't have felt more at home.

Look at all the gorgeous shoes.  Could you just die?!

And I thought I might like to get one of these bags, but which one?  I bought the leopard chubbie that I had previously posted about here but maybe I need one of these fun bags too!

All in all, it was a very fun night to support a wonderful cause.

Denise Hajjar's fashion show Tuesday night to benefit Dress for Success at the Copley Plaza Hotel was great fun!

This picture doesn't do it justice; the red lace of this dress was gorgeous.  But where to wear it?!  I need an occasion and I think I'd like it above the knee.

I love the tweed of this suit, the ladylike length of the skirt and the shape of the jacket.  I would wear it without the belt, some fun opaque tights and booties to give it a little edge.
