The shoe designer in all of us...

I somewhat recently discovered this fabulous website called Shoes of Prey. It's a true dream come true! You can choose from a variety of pre-designed shoes or even better, you can design your own. What a fabulous concept. I have a couple pair of open toe, high heeled platforms that I thought would be perfect if I could get them in black. Lo and behold, shoes of prey has a very similar style. They recommend ordering one pair at first to try for size and they guarantee your order. If the shoes don't fit, send them back and they'll make you a new pair that does. This certainly sounds like something that I'm going to have to try.

Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?

You may have heard about this quite some time ago, but Kate Moss is known to have said that her mantra is "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". Since I recently (2 days ago) went into diet smackdown, this quote came to mind. Now we've all got our own skinny, and skinny on me is not even close to what skinny is on other people. I will always have curves and I'm OK with that; in fact I embrace my curves. But I do remember what it feels like to be my version of skinny. It did feel really good. And by the way, I'm not talking about drastic weight loss or body changes. I'm talking about maybe 10 pounds of fat and one dress size. So I'm thinking about every bite I put into my mouth (and every sip of wine for that matter). I'm eating more salad, drinking less wine and tracking it all. Oh and I'm seeing my trainer Sim who whips my butt harder each time I see her. Tune in for my weight loss progress...

Market by Jean Georges

Back in the fall when Market had just opened, I went with a group of friends. We had a reservation for which we were seated over an hour late. But the restaurant took care of us and gave us a bottle of wine while we waited. Throughout the meal, they went out of their way to compensate for their missteps (free apps, free dessert plus more wine). So despite a very heavy hand with the salt, we had a great time but vowed to let the restaurant get over its growing pains before we went back.

Some of us had been back since and they seemed to have solved the salt problem so I went again last night with the same group from our first visit. Despite the fact that the place was hopping, we were seated on time though they squeezed us in a bit tight. That was easily fixed with another chair on the end of the table. But imagine our disappointment when the food was way oversalted yet again. I must put this into perspective; I love salt. I use it liberally when I cook but this was over the top. I won't even go into the details of what we had. Suffice it to say that everything was oversalted. At this point, I just won't go back.

Is Talbots my secret weapon?!

So here goes...my name is Lissy. I am obsessed with fashion.

I love high end fashion; Chanel, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs. And while I am lucky enough to be able to afford some of these very high end designers, I also need a much lower price point most of the time. My go to designers at the moment are Kate Spade, Diane von Furstenberg, Red Valentino. I'm also good at the much less expensive stuff like H&M, Zara and the like. Hopefully over time I'll be able to share some of my finds and secrets with you.

I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you about my most recent fashion secret and you will not believe it. It's Talbots. In the many years of my life, I don't think I had ever set foot in a Talbots until very recently. I walk by one almost every day and lately the windows have drawn me in. So at lunch one day recently I found my way into the Talbots on Boylston and Clarendon. In the picture here, I bought the yellow boucle dress but in green and it was only $159. I also bought another dress and an orange skirt that both very conveniently go quite well with a short sleeve jacket I bought recently at Kate Spade.
