Some days, it's all about the accessories

I had a lazy Monday since it was a work holiday.  My one outing other than the gym was a bite in the 'hood for dinner.  The sidewalks were super icy and treacherous and this winter wonderland makes me want to crawl into the boring parts of my closet.

Necklace and bracelet from Elisha Daniels, YSL arty ring
I may have succumbed to practical and boring in my clothes, but at least the jewels spruced it up a bit.  Besides I hadn't worn my new YSL arty ring yet and I thought it went perfectly with the chunky gold necklace and bracelet.

J Crew chambray shirt, J Brand black jeans, Cole Haan boots
I wore a basic chambray shirt from J Crew, black J Brand jeans and Cole Haan riding boots.

It's still only January and I am quite ready for this winter wonderland to pass us by.

The Party's Over

Milly jacket, Ann Taylor top, Joe's Jeans, Cole Haan boots
There's something a wee bit depressing when the holidays and parties are officially over.  For most, it's been over for a week or so but for me, my birthday tends to make the holidays longer.  Going back to work today after a long weekend in NYC was a bit of a bummer.  I did perk up at the thought of donning my new Milly jacket that I got for a steal at Bergdorf's this weekend.

Chanel ring and necklace
Plus I got to wear another new item, my fabulous Chanel ring with the always reliable Chanel pearl necklace.

Happy Sparkly Birthday

Tory Burch cardigan, J Brand jeans, Cole Haan boots, Hermes belt
It's the crack of 5AM and I've been up for hours.  I'm at the beginning of my birthday weekend with lots of fun plans so why not add some sparkle?  I bought this glittery Tory Burch cardigan at Saks on sale last weekend.  It's not too much sparkle for me (too much is never enough) but it might be for my camera (notice the reflection from the flash).

Chanel necklace and ring, SoHo street vendor bracelet
As always, I've got to add some accessories and included my go to Chanel necklace and ring with one of my street vendor purchases.

Have a great weekend!

Is the Snow Gone Yet?

It's finally started to warm up a bit and it's supposed to be close to 50 degrees this weekend.  Thank goodness, it should help to melt all the darn snow that makes getting around in any normal (fun) shoes impossible.

Theory cardigan, DVF top, Joe's Jeans, Cole Haan boots, Hermes belt
I was tempted to bundle up again today but decided instead to add some color to my life.  I bought this DVF top at Barney's on sale about a month ago and hadn't worn it yet but cozied it up with a cashmere Theory cardigan (from the Wrentham outlets).  I also wore my Cole Haan riding boots even though there's slush everywhere, the curbs are hard to navigate and the brick sidewalks in my 'hood are still so slippery.  At least they have rubber soles.

It's too bad that the pretty pleated tulip sleeve was hidden all day under my sweater.  The only person who appreciated it was the girl in the gym locker room who commented on it as I was getting changed.

Nava Glazer leather and chain long necklace, SoHo street jewelry bracelet

Chanel necklace
And as always, no outfit is complete without accessories and jewels.

My Christmas Back in Boston

There's an impending blizzard supposedly on its way to Boston but as of now, the snow is still falling relatively lightly. Elisha and I celebrated our Christmas today nestled in on one of the couches at the Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons.  It was so lovely to be toasty inside and watch the snowfall.

Lands End cashmere turtleneck, J Crew skirt, Cole Haan boots
bracelet from street jeweler in SoHo, ring from Cadillac's Castle, belt bought in Charleston
I wore a cozy Land's End cashmere crewneck sweater, bright pink J Crew skirt and Cole Haan riding boots that are perfect for trekking through a limited amount of snow.

For the sake of keeping Christmas about spending time with family and friends and less about consumerism, my family and I for the most part have forsaken gift giving with a few exceptions.  One of my exceptions is my annual celebration with my dear friend Elisha.  She's over the top generous and here's what she gave to me.

I love these long hot pink leather gloves that she sells in her shop.  I bought them in brown but she knew I love the pink so she gave them to me.

Dior nail polish in Timeless Gold and City of Gold
These shiny gold Dior nail polishes are just oh so much fun.

I got home and put on Timeless Gold.

She also gave me this fabulous bracelet from her shop that goes with this necklace I bought awhile back.

As if that all wasn't enough, I got this gorgeous Louis Vuitton inclusion ring (the pic just doesn't do it justice).

How lucky am I?  All the jewels and baubles are so fun but only the icing on the cake to having such a wonderful friend to spend the holidays with.

H&M Designer Collaborations

I'm delinquent in posting about my experience venturing to H&M to try and scoop up some of the Lanvin for H&M goods.  I arrived at H&M on Newbury Street around 7:45AM and thought to myself that the line didn't look as horrendous as I had anticipated.  It turns out it was worse than I had thought. They were giving out color coded wristbands with each color corresponding to a time you were allowed to shop the collection.  Without belaboring the point, there were apparently people who had arrived around 4AM and my arrival time allowed me to shop at 11AM.  I decided that by the time I got back everything would be picked over so I didn't bother but I did take a moment to peek at the merchandise from afar (it was roped off).  While some things did look lovely, they also looked small; I think I would have had to wear the dresses as tops because they looked way short.

In honor of the H&M collaboration with Lanvin, on Saturday I decided to wear the real thing.

Lanvin top, Rogan jeans, Cole Haan boots
I wore my Lanvin top with some skinny jeans and riding boots for an afternoon of lunching and shopping.

Chanel cross body bag
I'm loving this little Chanel cross body bag and the freedom of not carrying around a ton of stuff all the time!

Chanel earrings, Rachel Zoe for QVC ring
I accessorized with the Chanel earrings my girlfriends gave me for my birthday last year and this Rachel Zoe for QVC statement ring.

For the evening Saturday, I kept with the theme of H&M collaborations and pulled out of the deep, deep, deep archives this tuxedo jacket that I got oh, six or seven years ago at H&M when they collaborated with Stella McCartney.  I bought this jacket which is part of a suit and two tops that I still have to this day.  I'll have to pull them out for you one of these days soon.

Stella McCartney for H&M jacket, Joie lace top, Banana Republic pants, Me Too booties
I paired it with these five pocket leggings from Banana Republic, Joie lace top and Me Too booties.

Banana Republic necklace, Chanel brooch

I topped it all off with some multi-strand pearls from Banana Republic and Chanel brooch.

Here Comes the Sun

It was grey and overcast today and I woke up exhausted after another night of little sleep.  I was tempted to go the easy route and stick with my black and grey color palette.  But I decided to buck my dark trend and brighten up my day with my outfit.  Today I'm a vision in yellow.

Everything from my coat to my sweater to my skirt was yellow today.  I bought this Charles Grey coat several years ago at Nordstrom.  It's been stuffed in the back of my coat closet and I finally pulled it out today after a long hiatus.

Nanette Lepore skirt, Chanel earrings and necklace

The best part of this outfit is the skirt which I bought on sale at Nanette Lepore and it is seasonless.  The bright colors make it perfect for spring but the tweedy material works for the fall.  I love the detailing of the crochet waist and the ribbon weave fabric.

I wore my trusty Cole Haan booties and LV bag that fits everything I could possibly need for the day.  So as I type this, this grey, dreary day is coming to an end but I had my own version of sunshine today.  Here's to hoping you did too!

H&M Military Jacket Remixed

H&M military jacket
A while back I posted about this military jacket that I bought at H&M.  Both my sister and one of my friends also have the jacket and needed some ideas on how to wear it.  Well I've got loads of ideas!

H&M top, Joe's cigarette jeans, Chanel flats, Aris Geldis necklace

Wear it with a floaty, floral top, skinny jeans and flats.

One September T from Athropologie, Chanel necklace, Joe's cigarette jeans
Or with a striped T, skinny jeans and flats.

DVF dress, Cole Haan riding boots
Throw it over a geometric print dress and riding boots.

ABS dress, Me Too booties, Chanel pendant necklace, Nava Glazer leather and chain necklace
Re-style a spring dress for the colder weather with tights and booties and top it off with the military jacket.

Ann Taylor skirt, H&M cami, Me Too booties, NY Look python print belt
Funk up an all black ensemble with a bold belt and some military chic.

J Crew cashmere turtleneck, Joe's jeans, Cole Haan booties, necklace from Elisha Daniels
Pair it with a classic cashmere turtleneck and jeans.

As you can see, this jacket goes with just about everything.  How would you wear it?

Faux Fur Chubbie Redux

Hermes belt, chunky but lightweight necklace from Elisha's shop
Today was the coldest day yet this fall.  I woke up to my morning weather person squawking about the below average temperatures.  So I knew I wanted to wear something warm and cozy.  I threw on a camel J Crew cashmere turtleneck and my just purchased necklace from Elisha's shop with some J Brand jeans.  Despite how big and chunky the necklace is, it's super lightweight which is a nice change from those necklaces that make my neck tired by the end of the day.

Cole Haan Stephanie Air Bootie
My Cole Haan booties that are 4+ inches high are still quite comfortable due to the platform and the Nike Air.

Tiziana handbag, Kate Spade faux fur chubbie
Despite how chilly it was today, I wasn't quite ready to pull out one of my more substantial winter coats.  Plus I'm still having fun with my faux fur chubbie from Kate Spade, especially with an added burst of color with my fun handbag!
